In Person YADA

In Person @ YADA!

We want to do everything we can to keep you safe at YADA, your home away from home. And so, whether you join us in-person at YADA, or at your actual home with YADAVISION, we will make sure you have the best experience possible! Our stages, both real and virtual, await your sparkling faces!

For YADA’s In Person programs, we have created an environment that promotes safety. To ensure that our kids remain safe during this time, the CDC and PHD recommends that you:

  • Talk to your kids about hand hygiene and appropriately wearing their mask. Also, it’s a good idea to send your child to school with extra face coverings so they can easily change masks if theirs gets wet or dirty.
  • Ensure you have a strategy for checking daily for symptoms at home, and as best you can, have an emergency childcare plan in place so that if your child becomes ill, they are able to safely stay home from school.
  • If any of your children are 5 or older, please let them know about the importance of getting vaccinated and help them get to a vaccine site where they can get the Pfizer vaccine. Click here for vaccine information.

Below you will find information on YADA’s protocols as of November, 2021. Please note that this is an ever changing environment and we will continue to update as we get updates from the CDC.

This section of the website is designed to provide you with information about YADA - THE YOUTH ACADEMY OF DRAMATIC ARTS and to help with any questions you may have about our IN PERSON program. Please take the time to review this information with your child and direct any comments or questions you may have to our YADA staff by emailing us at yadakids@gmail.com or call us at 323-655-9232. Please note that anything in blue font is a helpful link with further information!

YADA SCHOOL SAFETY (2)
required tests

COVID-19 TEST REQUIREMENTS:

TESTING POLICY

As part of our efforts to mitigate COVID-19 virus transmission on campus, COVID-19 PCR tests will be administered to all employees and offered to all students on a weekly basis to start the session (testing frequency may change depending upon local conditions). Testing is provided free to all families and employees (you will only need to provide insurance information, which will then be covered for your insurance through the CARES Act, and will not be attributed to your account). All individuals rehearsing or working on campus must consent to participate in weekly testing.

  • Please note that if a community member selects to secure and provide their own COVID test off-campus, that test must be a PCR test that is performed in a lab (not at home).
  • If your school is providing weekly testing, YADA will accept those results.
  • Testing days/times are subject to change. We currently have regular weekly testing scheduled for:
  • **NOTE: Everyone MUST sign up at least 24 hours in advance. YADA Will share an RSVP form each week for sign-up. No one will be permitted to test at YADA without a completed survey found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/yadacamp (This survey must be completed one time per testing individual, not each time you test).
  • 3rd St: Thursdays 3:00-4:30pm
    • Test results back Friday before class.
vaccines (1)

Vaccines?

  • All YADA staff members are fully vaccinated for in person camps.
  • STUDENTS: We strongly urge all eligible students to get vaccinated. Until COVID vaccines move past the emergency approval status, we will not be requiring vaccination as a precondition for attendance.
    • As a reminder, children between 5-17 years are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine, a regimen of two doses administered three weeks apart, and they are considered fully protected two weeks after their last dose.
      • Anyone over 5 living or working in LA County can get vaccinated against COVID-19 at no cost. Visit www.vaccinatelacounty.com to find a vaccination site near you and make an appointment.
    • For many reasons, we are asking to have proof of vaccinations on file for eligible students. Having this data allows us to make the best decisions for everyone in our community.
    • It is very likely that at some point the state will include the COVID-19 vaccination among its list of vaccinations required for school entry/attendance; additionally, the school likely will mandate vaccinations for eligible students once the FDA grants permanent approval status.
  • If your child does have the Covid-19 vaccine, simply upload a copy of it to your parent portal. Please cover all medical information.
travel advisory (2)

TRAVEL?

    • CDC guidance for travel (at the time of this publication) states that unvaccinated individuals must stay home from YADA and self-quarantine for a full seven days and receive a negative viral COVID test on Day 3-5 before returning to YADA. The final day of travel is Day 0.
    • Individuals, including children, who travel while fully vaccinated (two weeks after the final dose) are not required to quarantine. However, a negative COVID test taken after your return and within 48 hours of your child’s YADA class must still be presented.
    • These guidelines apply anytime that a child travels on a plane, bus, train, or other forms of mass transportation.
    • Test results must be uploaded to your child’s Brightwheel account prior to their return to class.
quarantine

WHEN TO QUARANTINE?

    • If a student at YADA tests positive, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic, they will be immediately removed from class and mandated to isolate according to CDC guidelines. They will be allowed to return in person after the isolation, with a negative PCR test, and symptom-free. Until that time, they may attend rehearsal through Zoom that will be set up on an iPad in the classroom.
    • YADA will follow official guidelines in regards to the potential quarantine of the exposed cast.

  • Children who remain at YADA for more than 15 minutes after the end of class will be charged a late fee of $1.00 per minute.
  • If you are unavoidably stuck in traffic, or have a last-minute emergency and cannot be here on time, please call YADA @ 323-655-9232 so we can let your child know you are on your way.
  • The reason for this is most children become very anxious once all the other children have been picked up.

HOW CAN WE BE SURE THE OTHER STUDENTS AND STAFF ARE HEALTHY AND FOLLOWING PROTOCOLS ON THEIR OWN?

  • Theatre is all about community. It is all about trust. We cannot put on a show without trusting our fellow performers to do their part and to take care of us as well. The same is true for this time in our lives. It is more important than ever to do our own part to take care of ourselves and our families in order to take care of each other.
  • All YADA staff members are following the CDC and PHD guidelines for COVID-19 testing.
  • YADA will be using Brightwheel for symptom checks for children entering the building and will be conducting temperature checks.
